HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Gov. Mark Schweiker today signed the following bills into law:
House Bill 751, sponsored by Rep. Bob Allen (R-Schuylkill), amends the Pharmacy Act to redefine "practice of pharmacy" to mean the provision of health care services by a pharmacist. The legislation also provides for definitions for "managing drug therapy," "institution," "drug administration," "physician," and "protocol." This bill passed unanimously and is effective in 60 days.
House Bill 497, sponsored by Rep. Robert W. Godshall (R-Montgomery), incorporates the practice of dietetics-nutrition into the practice of professional nursing. The legislation passed the Senate unanimously and the House by a 195-3 vote. It takes...
