Alibre Design was one of the first programs to provide Web-based design collaboration for engineers and others involved in product development projects. Version 4.0 builds on the company's experience as an application service provider by offering a number of new features, foremost among them a claimed 20 times improvement in graphics performance (zooming in, rotating objects, etc).

A new "invite wizard" feature lets current operators offer Alibre Design access to non-users such as potential clients, allowing them to share data and collaborate on designs.
