May 14--The latest episode of "As DaimlerChrysler Churns," Wolfgang Bernhard has found himself written out of the script.
Only a week ago the chief operating officer of Chrysler Group was packing his bags and preparing to move from Michigan to Germany to take on his new role as head of Mercedes-Benz. He was replacing Juergen Hubbert, 64, who planned to retire but will now stay.
Now Bernhard's dusting off his rsum, employed by DaimlerChrysler, but not for long.
Bernhard's woes are only part of what Chrysler Group insiders label an "ongoing soap opera."
