Snp leader Alex Salmond will today throw his weight behind a "University of the North Sea" to boost skilled recruitment to the offshore industry.

Mr Salmond will spell out what it would entail in a high-profile lecture at Aberdeen University in which he will note that as far as oil and gas are concerned, "the game is at half-time" since as many resources still lie off Scotland's shores as have already been extracted.
