ShopKo to part ways with Pamida, revamps merchandising.(ShopKo Stores Inc.)

OMAHA, Neb. -- Drug Store News has learned that parent company Sun Capital Partners plans to separate Pamida from sister (and former parent company) ShopKo Stores "as fast as they can get it done," according to ShopKo president and chief merchandising officer Paul White. Sun Capital acquired ShopKo at the end of 2005.

In addition, ShopKo has revamped its in-store merchandising and product mix and is back in the news, announcing plans to open its first new store in six years. ShopKo will break ground on the 80,000-square-foot unit near Green Bay, Wis., in spring 2007 for a store opening …
