To say the National Conference in Cincinnati was a smashing success for collegiate chapters would be a sizeable understatement. Audience attendance at sessions was exceptional, and the quality of the sessions was exemplary. I want to thank Collegiate Chapter Committee members Midori Koga, Michigan State University, and Carolyn True, NCTM, Trinity University, who were responsible for two guest presentations.
Careers in Music: Options Other than Ibaching and Performing was led by Ted Piechocinski, MusicExpresso, LLC; Kathleen Rountree, NCMT, University of Northern Colorado; and Frederick Tims, Michigan State University. The guest panelists represented the areas of music therapy, university administration, the entertainment/recording industry and publishing.
Student Teacher Evaluations featured Jody Graves, NCTM, The University of Montana; Douglas Humpherys, Eastman School of Music; Tia Monsen, Auburn, Washington; and Oksana Skidan, Eastman School of Music. Graves and Humpherys served as clinicians. Monsen and Skidan taught young students for short lessons and were then critiqued by the clinicians. Special thanks to Michelle Conda, NCTM, and the Cincinnati students and teachers who were such a critical part of this session.
I want to thank the following Collegiate Chapters for their applications for the Chapter of the Year Award:
