In April, I was fired from my job for speaking up against Spanish language usage at the Wal-Mart Super Center where I worked. I stated my view that if we were to be a Spanish speaking business, then illegal immigrants from Mexico would feel welcomed and would be motivated to move into our community. I made it clear that if Mexican citizens wish to work in the USA, they must do it legally, as set forth in federal law. My manager said that my comment had offended other employees and that she had to terminate me -- immediately. I believe that Wal-Mart is now compromised, in that the short-term cash flow from the illegal immigrants is of higher priority than the greater good of social order and legality.
In writing this letter, my intent is not to harm Wal-Mart or to defame them in anyway. I believe Wal-Mart is fearful of offending anyone, because ...
