The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced a strategic five-year plan to fulfil its increased responsibilities in the light of rapid development taking place in the economic and business fronts, globally, regionally and internationally. The salient features of the plan include, among others, steps to keep pace with the technological developments to transform the ADCCI into e-Chamber, to make effective contribution in improving and preparing the national manpower to face the competition in the employment market easily, to play a meaningful role in improving the laws and regulations governing the economic activities in the country, to increase the contribution of business women in various economic spheres, to strengthen the coordination and co-operation between the Chamber on the one hand and various economic departments and ministries on the other, and develop international co-operation, according to an ADCCI statement issued today.
Announcing the five-year plan, Mohammed Omar Abdullah, the Director General of the ADCCI, said it was the outcome of continuous studies and researches of the recent developments, locally, regionally and internationally. He said that the new logo of ADCCI and the changes in the internal structure of the Chamber adopted recently were part of this plan. He said that the plan was necessitated by the change in trends in the role and function of the Chamber adding that it was adopted after long deliberations among the various departments and sections of the Chamber on the perspectives, vision and the mission of the Chamber.
"The Chamber can never survive by closing its eyes to the important developments and changes taking place around us and the problems faced by our economic institutions," Abdullah said. "This sense of responsibility encouraged us to study and contemplate plans to face the challenges and plan ahead for the next five years to come in line with the growing responsibilities of the chamber in the changed circumstances," he pointed out.
On the basis of this the Chamber charted out its strategic priorities and then into a concrete action plan for the next five years. It includes a number of projects and plans classified into three categories related to the services to be rendered to its members, internal development projects and miscellaneous projects. The new services to its members include an office to speed up procedures for investors, launching of and export promotion programme, Sheikh Khalifa SMEs programme, plans of co-operation with different training institutions for human resources development, increasing contribution of women entrepreneurs in various economic areas, lending the necessary ...
