Father Basil van Rensburg, of St Gabriel's Catholic Church in Guguletu, where the Biehls worshipped whenever they were in South Africa, said his whole congregation was saddened by Peter Biehl's death. Peter and Linda Biehl spent their time raising funds in the United States between travelling eight or nine times a year to South Africa. While most of the funding for the South African projects was raised in the United States, the Western Cape Department of Social Services has recently given almost R1 million to add a second shift to the bakery in George and the Department of Health has promised to help with an AIDS project. The Biehls also facilitated a regular flow of American interns to South Africa to work on the projects, and scholarships for South African students to study in the United States.
