Lusaka, Zambia (PANA) - Two of three professional boxers from the southern Katanga region of the DR Congo defied odds of fighting before a hostile and partisan crowd when they knocked out Zambia's best and most experienced fighters at the weekend.
Zambia's most painful loss in the friendly tournament, held in the copper mining town of Chingola, was the knocking out of former amateur luminary, Albert Musankabala, who met his 'Waterloo' at the hands of little known Tambwe Kayembe from Congo.
Musankabala is a former Zambia and Africa bantamweight champion, who was trying to use the international bout as a platform from which to re-launch his stalled ring career.
Musankabala's comeback, however, ended in an embarrassing disaster as he was knocked out in the fourth round by a more youthful Kayembe and his handlers were forced to throw in the towel and save the faded star from further and merciless punishment.
The one-sided fight resulted in fight fans deserting the veteran pugilist for Kayembe as he tossed the Zambian at will.
