Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria has called for an immediate end to the violence in the Middle East, where Israelis and Palestinians are engaged in a cycle of killings and counter- killings.
"The carnage and violence cannot go on endlessly," President Olusegun Obasanjo said during his monthly Media Chat television programme Sunday night.
"The time has come when all peoples in that region should work for peace. There should be cessation of violence and enthronement of dialogue," Obasanjo said.
He said the Easter season was auspicious "to start something new in the Middle East".
