TOKYO, June 3 Asia Pulse - The recent trend among major breweries of lowering the prices of their low-malt beer products may rekindle discussions on raising taxes on the beverage.
Asahi Breweries Ltd (TSE:2502) will reduce the prices of its "Honnama" low-malt beer by 10 yen on June 21. Their moves follow cuts by rivals Kirin Brewery Co (TSE:2503) and Sapporo Breweries Ltd (TSE:2501) earlier this year.
