TEHRAN, June 3 Asia Pulse - Iranian Minister of industry and Mines Ishaq Jahangiri met with visiting Executive Director of the United Nations Industrial and Development Organization (UNIDO) Carlos Alfredo Magarinos over the weekend to review policies to expand cooperation.
They also focused on the need for cooperation in Afghanistan reconstruction drive.
Jahangiri stressed Iran's support for the UNIDO's office in Tehran, adding that Iran and UNIDO were involved in bilateral and multilateral projects "that have made good progress but, also some of them need to be followed up with greater persistence."
He further called for UNIDO to delineate a future strategy for small-scale industries and carrying out feasibility studies for potential projects.
Magarinos also referred to his trips to Afghanistan and Pakistan
and said that Iran and UNIDO can cooperate in renovating and upgrading of Afghanistan's food-stuffs, and textiles industries.
He also introduced the new UNIDO's representatives in Iran Barnard.
