More Reading, Less TV--A Proven Literacy Program

TV-Turnoff Network recently launched this 4-week grammar school program proven to improve children's ability to read. Students are encouraged to develop a deep enjoyment for reading and reduce the amount of time spent watching television. A central theme of the program is the challenge to "Bury the Television with Books" using colorful strips of paper which students are awarded for each book they read. This year's program also includes a More Poetry Supplement. Teachers' guides are available online. And--be sure to participate in "TV-Turnoff Week" April 22-28, 2002. Visit www.tvturnoff.org.
