Theaters, arts groups offer summer classes for all ages.(B SECTION)(Column)

The hot days and afternoon showers of summer are on their way. Why not use the off-season to learn how to paint or hone your acting skills. Area theaters and arts groups are offering a wide variety of classes to keep youngsters busy and adults learning.

One of the best art schools is right here in our own backyard. Why not take a class there? Ringling School of Art and Design is offering summer classes for teens and adults. The Adult Studios program will meet from June 8 through July 23. Classes include drawing fundamentals, great lyricists, painting in oil and acrylic, watercolor, Web design and more. While the majority of the classes meet weekday mornings, there are a few offerings on Saturdays and Sundays.

The school is also featuring a Teen Studios program. Each week will offer a different slate of classes in the visual arts. Sessions are June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12 and July 15-19. …
