Abstract

Educators are often keen to promote the idea of students taking an active role in the classroom. Discussion classes, such as seminars, are a forum in which students can take an active role. This paper reviews descriptions of questions in educational contexts. A description of the questions students asked in university discussion classes in one department is presented. Classification is made on the basis of function and ideas content.
