Abstract

As a contextualized activity, teaching is shaped among other things by the nature of the actors involved. Drawing on the works of American teachers and the author's own experience as an EFL instructor at Ryazan State Pedagogical University, Russia, the paper focuses on the ways three parties -- teachers, students, and peers/authorities -- can mold the teaching process.
