Avid ships Xpress DV version 3. (product spotlight).(Product Announcement)
Avid's Xpress DV is a set of video editing tools that offers multiple, simultaneous, real-time streaming and more than 100 customizable real-time effects such as dissolves, titles, and motion effects. Xpress DV is designed to strike a balance between power and affordability. It's powerful enough that post-production and other video professionals can employ it on location, for example; and affordable enough at $1699 that film students, journalists, and others can use it as well. The software runs on PCs, including laptops. A Mac version will be available this spring.
Version 3 has a new interface with five customizable toolsets and "SuperBins" that let users access media storage folders from within a single tab-based window. The software also comes with a new Avid DV codec that improves image quality, eight video tracks with unlimited nesting for dynamic multilayered compositions, a new keyframe model with bezier controls, dual processor support, and enhanced DVD ...
