I was SO PLEASED to receive Issue 88 with "Staff Picks." This is exactly the information that a casual audiophile like myself needs, since the time required to run my business precludes the time required to sort through individual reviews. A small suggestion: how about giving each contributor a set of guidelines of information they should provide, that they can add to but not subtract from. For example, James Frane included prices for only 2 of the 24 items he reviewed. "Include Prices" should be in the guidelines. Howard Ferstler gave excellent detailed explanations of his choices, but he seems to have grown weary, and in the "Speakers" section of his review, gave only a list of models by ascending price. One of the guidelines might be, "Review by quality, not by price, and give reasons for your choices" (on the assumption that one system that costs $450 a pair might actually provide better quality than another system ...
