Thailand's poor survive on an average of a Bt120 per day, with rural dwellers living off a mere Bt82, according to research disclosed yesterday.
Speaking at a seminar organized by the project to develop benefits for the poor and disadvantaged, run by Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics, Dr Kitti Limsakul said that research taken from 10,000 samples in Bangkok, Chonburi, Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Surin, Nakhon Sawann and Songkhla showed that agriculture remained the profession with the highest concentration of people living in poverty.
