Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) - Ethiopian Broadcasting Agency will start issuing licences to prospective private broadcasters from May, Information Minister, Berket Simon, announced in Addis Ababa Friday.
He said the exercise would be based on the country's Law on Broadcasting, promulgated in June 1999, but which had not come into force.
"After two and half years' delay, the government has now appointed a General Manager of the Agency and is now in the process of organising (an) office," Simon said.
