A recent report on a governance framework for Namibian state-owned enterprises (SOEs) has suggested thsome of them be privatised, a Labour Resource and Research Institute (LaRRI) representative announced on Thursday. The institute said in a media statement the report indicated that privatisation has been debated and successfully implemented in various African countries in the 1980s and 1990s. Quoting the report, the LaRRI said: "This issue is of great relevance to Namibia, which now after several years of commercialisation, plans to move towards privatisation of several state-owned enterprises". According to the statement, four speakers from five African countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe were in Namibia to share their countries' experiences on ...
