(SUBS: PLEASE NOTE OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE IN 23RD PAR) Former Noordelikes rugby club first team captain Riaan Botha testified on Friday that before finding Tshepo Matloha's body, he had never seen a corpse before and never wanted to see one again. Testifying under cross-examination in his Pretoria High Court murder trial, State counsel Annemarie Schutte asked him why he was "rattled" after seeing that Matloha was dead. "A dead person was lying there. That is not something which I have ever seen or ever want to see again," Botha told Judge Bernard Ngoepe and his two assessors. Ngoepe asked him why he did not look to see what injuries Matloha had. "The last time you saw the person, (according to Botha's version) there was hardly anything wrong with him," the judge said. Botha replied: "I could clearly see he was dead. He did not breathe. There was blood on his face and under his nose. He was dead." Botha, a professional hunter with an agricultural degree, earlier testified that he and 10 other rugby club members were on his mother's game farm on March 24 and 25 last year. On the Sunday, they went for a game drive when he saw dogs on the farm. He shot at them. After shooting one of them, he saw Matloha standing next to him. He grabbed the man and pressed him to the ground. Shortly afterwards, he handed him over to two of the other rugby players. Botha denied assaulting Matloha. He said the following day, his co-accused Kobus Joubert asked that they should return to the scene where they found the body.
