PERTH, May 1 Asia Pulse - The New South Wales (NSW) state government has approved the development of Australian Silicon Ltd's (ASX:ASO) integrated silicon project near Moruya.
The NSW Planning Minister Andrew Refshauge today announced that development consent had been granted for the carbon reductant facility.
NSW state development approvals for the other components of the project - the Lithgow silicon smelter facility and the Glenella Quartz Mine near Cowra - are already in place together with the Murray-Darling basin plantation strategy.
Australian Silicon managing director Peter Anderton said the development consent for the Moruya facility will enable the company to complete integrated design and documentation for project finance, with bankable documentation scheduled to be finalised by September 2002.
"While much work lies ahead, we are now in a position to advance the project to its next stage final feasibility and financing," he said.
