TAIPEI, May 1 Asia Pulse - Premier Yu Shyi-kun vowed Tuesday to make English a "quasi-official language" in Taiwan within six years.
Yu promised that the government will work toward this goal and said it will do its best to push for the necessary legislation to that end in the years ahead as part of the government's six-year national development plan.
He made the remarks during a legislative session while fielding questions from lawmaker Lo Wen-chia of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party.
