CANBERRA, May 1 Asia Pulse - A meeting today with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will be a major step towards achieving the vital free trade agreement with Japan,said Australian Treasurer Peter Costello.
Mr Costello said Japan was the world's second largest economy and Australia's largest trading partner.
"If we could achieve free trade of all of our goods, this would be a fantastic thing for the Australian economy," he said on Sydney radio 2UE.
"We are one of the few countries in the world that runs a trade surplus with Japan.
