TEHRAN, May 1 Asia Pulse - The National Iranian Petrochemical Commercial Company exported 4,011,000 tons of petrochemical products, worth US$794 million in the year ending March 20, 2002, the firm's public relations department reported at the Fourth International Petrochemical Forum (IPF).
The IPF Public Relations Department quoted the NIPCC Managing Director Mohammad Ehtiati as saying that the exports showed a three per cent growth compared to the set target.
Ehtiati said National Petrochemical Company (NPC) of Iran envisions an export of 4,236,000 tons of petrochemical goods this year.
NPC is to market new brands of petrochemical products such as MTBI, PTA and PET and its LAB unit is to come on stream as of next year, said Ehtiati, adding that part of the products are scheduled to be exported.
Japan was the major customer of Iran's petrochemical products last year, importing 927,685 tons of goods, followed by China, South Korea, Taiwan and Philippines, according to the official.
