New Zealand's Foreign Minister Philip Goff arrives in South Africa on Friday for a seven-day visit to help reinforce bilateral and trade relations. South Africa's Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Goff would meet with, amongst others, Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad, Minister in the Office of the President Essop Pahad and Deputy Justice Minister Cheryl Gilwald. He would also officially open New Zealand's two new honorary consuls in Durban and Cape Town. The visit was part of New Zealand's commitment to building a modern and multifaceted relationship with South Africa, and to explore further co-operation on bilateral and trade relations, the department said. "Since 1994 political, economic and social links between the two countries have improved significantly. "The political relationship has been further strengthened by numerous high-level delegations that have visited New Zealand to gain expertise in their different fields and exchange knowledge with the view to enhancing capacity building in central, provincial and local government structures."
