A restrictive media bill passed in the Zimbabwean Parliament on Thursday raised serious doubts about the commitment of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to influence President Robert Mugabe, the New National Party said on Friday. NNP spokesman Francois Beukman said in a statement the approval of the (Information Minister Jonathan) "Moyo-media legislation" was a setback for media freedom in Southern Africa and the efforts of the international community to put pressure on Mugabe and the ruling ZANU-PF.
