LIVE DANGEROUSLY 
 
   In dreams the electrifying hag 
   could zip to where I hid, 
   ignite those potent chemicals 
   in a five-year-old's id. 
 
   And at fourteen a senior could 
   deprive me of my voice 
   I'm going to punch you either here, 
   or here, cunt, make your choice. 
 
   Then five years on, with militants, 
   I occupied a floor 
   and listened to their wrangling with 
   the polite ambassador, 
 
   knowing The Law was on the way, 
   would not do things by half, 
   would drag me and my self-regard 
   into the tainted life. 
 
   And I looked square at the young man's dread, 
   a bedsitter future, 
   as love, I thought, recoiled at something 
   Arctic in my nature. 
 
   But then a lovely woman came; 
   around us grew fair space, 
   and I found my well-being in 
   her laugh and ...
