: The development of Bandra-Kurla complex received a boost with the Videsh Sanchar Nigam picking up nearly six acres of property in the commercial complex for Rs 53.6 crore. The stagnating Bharat Diamond Bourse is also likely to restart construction.
In a recent deal, VSNL has opted for 22,250 square meters of land from the leasing authority, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, for the development of a communication centre and residential complex for its employees. The lease deal, for a period of 80 years, was at a predetermined rate of Rs 2,500 a sq ft.
VSNL has been permitted to develop a floor space index of 1.5 for the housing project, while the communication centre has been allotted an FSI of 2, MMRDA official V K Pathak told ET. The communication centre will cover a major chunk of the VSNL property, while the housing complex for the employees will occupy a little less than one-third of the land, Mr Pathak said.
