: Leading biscuit and dairy product maker Britannia Industries Limited has seen its net profits for the quarter ended December 31, 2001 rise by 45 per cent on a year on year basis.
The net stood at Rs 22.7 crore against Rs 15.7 crore for the comparative period. Net sales were up 9.39 per cent at Rs 348 crore against Rs 318.10 crore. Staff cost was marginally down at Rs 23.40 crore (Rs 25 crore).
BIL also provided for Rs 1.50 crore towards write-off of proportionate amount of VRS costs during Q3. This was Rs 1.10 crore during the comparable period.
The earning per share works out to Rs 6.51 against Rs 5.84 a rise of 11.47 per cent.
