: The auto component industry is bullish on the medium-term export strategy announced by the government yesterday. In a Press statement issued on Thursday, Automotive Component Manufacturers' Association of India president Mr K Kejriwal said that the new policy, if implemented effectively, has the potential to take exports of auto components to $1 billion from the current level of $625 million in the next four years.
Thanking the commerce and industry minister Mr Murasoli Maran, Mr Kejriwal said that the Export Strategy Document would lay a new foundation for India to attain a significant share of the world trade in auto parts and components.
"Acma was already working on a number of projects which are in line with the suggestions made in the new policy. We are pursuing specialised projects to enable our members to enter into the large re-manufacturing business in North America, particularly in the heavy vehicles segment," ...
