But consider the implications when one company acquires another. The ramifications often affect dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people. Today's headlines provide proof of what acquisitions can do.
Nestle, for example, just announced that it plans to add Garoto, that fine Brazilian confectionery company, to its stable of assets. I suspect that the employees of Garoto welcome the move, since it brings the resources of a multinational giant to bear.
