IBM has introduced new Unix-, Linux-, and Windows-based graphics workstations that are optimized for applications such as engineering, financial services, digital media, and petroleum exploration. The new IntelliStations, some of which are priced in the sub-S2000 range, offer enhanced support for a variety of 2D and 3D graphics accelerators and come with an optional IBM T210 flat-panel monitor that can display imagery at resolutions of more than 3 million pixels.

The new IntelliStation Power 265 Unix-based workstation has single or dual 450MHZ 64-bit Power3 processors and up to 8GB of ECC memory. The IntelliStation Pro series is based on Intel Pentium 4 and Xeon processors running at 2.2GHZ with a 512K Level 2 cache. Options include the entry-level E ...
