In the wake of the Enron and Costal bankruptcies, many businesses are verifying the accuracy of their internal and external financial information. Firms are rushing to provide financial information that reflects the reality of their financial condition. The need for more reliable financial information is necessitated by the fiduciary requirements of a corporation to protect the shareholders and provide accurate information to them; of course, congressional oversight and new legislation is on the horizon.
