The independent Police Complaints Authority is to supervise an investigation into a fatal road traffic incident in Nottingham.
Just after midnight, Nottinghamshire Police spotted a red Ford Fiesta and started to follow the car because of the way it was allegedly being driven. They followed the Fiesta to Bilborough, where the police car lost sight of it. A police helicopter assisted in locating the vehicle, which was found in the Broxtowe area.
The car was observed being driven, reportedly at speed, along Wigman Road, where the driver lost control and the Fiesta collided with railings at the side of the road.
