On January 20th in Panama City, Florida, 14-year-old Josh Schulte was walking to the home of a friend, Brian Wasmer, when a large dog suddenly emerged from a ditch and attacked him. The 125-pound bull mastiff grabbed his forearm and bit down so hard that it ripped much of his arm muscle and broke a bone.
Josh subsequently recalled for the Panama City News Herald how neighbors watched helplessly from windows of their homes as the vicious canine bit him and tried to knock him to the street by jumping on his back. "Then, he let go, and I started running. He tried to get my leg, but only got ahold of my pants. I ran up in his [Brian Wasmer's] yard and started screaming for help."
Brian, 15, and sister Jessica, 13, rushed to help despite the obvious risk of serious injury (or worse) to themselves. Brian struck the dog on its back so hard with a pogo stick that the stick bent, while Jessica, armed with a golf club, also pummeled the creature.
