University of New Mexico professor Charles Truxillo predicts that the current border between the U.S. and Mexico will be supplanted by a new political entity called "Republica del Norte."

"Stretching from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, it would include all of the present U.S. states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, plus southern Colorado," reported the March 10th Albuquerque Tribune. This comports with the "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan," the vision pursued by radical Chicano activists to recapture territory supposedly stolen from Mexico. Truxillo, who teaches "Chicano studies" at UNM, expands that vision by suggesting that "Republica del Norte" would also absorb "the northern tier of current Mexican states: Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas."
