Peanut butter can be many things to many people, but low fat isn't one of them. Whether creamy or crunchy, peanut butter needs its considerable fat content to taste very good. That's about 21 to 27 grams per 3-tablespoon serving, slightly more than one-third of the recommended daily limit for most people.
Whenever a manufacturer has tried to reduce the fat, we've noticed inevitable shortcomings in flavor and texture. Our latest tests show that they still haven't succeeded. Reduced-fat products were less peanutty, more gritty, and sweeter.
