Here's a product that solves a problem you didn't know you had, costs far more than the alternative, and can't be great for the environment. It's moist toilet paper. We tested Charmin Fresh Mates, Cottonelle Fresh Rollwipes, Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist Wipes, and store brands. They range from $1 to $4 per 100 sheets.
All the wipes are labeled "flushable." But all that means is that they traverse plumbing, not that they disintegrate. In fact, most did not disintegrate, even after sitting in water for three months. The exception: Cottonelle Fresh Rollwipes, which broke up in about a day. (Most toilet paper breaks up within a minute.)
