ROTTNEST ISLAND MORNING II 
 
   The tethered dinghies nod in a row. 
   There is fresh-baked bread nearby. 
   Golden stone walls of cottages glow 
   against pale blue of morning sea and sky. 
 
   Gulls line the sea-wall, late wallabies 
   lollop to the cover of low bushes. 
   Crows hop and caw in the old fig-trees, 
   fat lizards waddle in the salty rushes. 
 
   The morning air is crystal clear,
