BOCA GRANDE -- Deep holes surrounded by limestone ledges make Boca Grande Pass a prime spot for tarpon and a top destination for anglers hoping to hook into the silver king.
But with decades' worth of fishing tackle and other junk trapped in those holes - at depths reaching 80 or more feet - some area anglers say the pass has also become an underwater landfill.
On Tuesday morning, 27 divers took part in the inaugural cleanup effort of the Boca Grande Pass Enhancement Fund, a not-for-profit organization that hopes to keep the pass clear of debris.
