SEOUL, April 1 Asia Pulse - Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri visit to North and South Korea was successful, said South Korean President Kim Dae Jung, and may help resume the two countries' stalled dialogue on peace.
Kim Dae Yung made the remarks during a state banguet in honour of visiting President Megawati and members of her entourage at Blue House, the South Korean Presidential Palace, here on Saturday evening.
"We have learnt about the results of Mrs Megawati with the North Korean leader. For us, your visit to North Korea has produced fruitful results," he said.
Jung also admitted that he had long asked Megawati to play an active role in striving for a peace in the Korean peninsula during his visit to Jakarta in 2000 and during the APEC summit in Shanghai in late 2001.
