- Collection of designs for two large sports facilities for the 2008 Olympic Games, to be hosted by the Chinese capital, will start April 2, according to a news conference held Sunday in Beijing.

- The temperature in the Chinese capital reached 28.7 degrees Celsius Sunday, the highest for this time of the year since 1915. According to the Central Meteorological Station, similar hot weather usually occurs only in late May, and the former record high for March was 26.4 degrees Celsius, in 1989.
