SEOUL, April 1 Asia Pulse - A local satellite firm said Friday that it has joined a satellite development project pushed for by Malaysia.

SaTReCi Co. said that it is involved in a joint project to develop an Earth observation satellite with Astronautic Technology, the lead manager of Malaysia's artificial satellite development program.

The satellite, called "MACSAT," is only 1.2 meters in length and 200 kg in weight and will be completed by the end of next year.

The satellite is aimed at observing natural disasters and environmental changes, orbiting above the equator in the 700 km above the Earth.
