It was known as the Valley of Death: the Ia Drang Valley, in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. On November 14, 1965, some 450 men of the 1st Battalion, 7th Air Cavalry Regiment rode into that valley -- and into one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.
