The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a regional affiliate of the United Nations, "would like to be able to put more than 100,000 men into a campaign, and envisages a total force in excess of 250,000, capable of combat in three conflicts in any part of the world for up to two years," reported the February 21st London Independent. The proposed "Allied Rapid Reaction Corps" (ARRC) would be led by Britain, with separate corps headed by the Italians, Spanish, Germans, Dutch, and Turks, as well as the Franco-German Eurocorps. These elements "are expected to be amalgamated into two [units], to supplement the ARRC," reports the British paper.
