On February 25th, new Afghan leader Hamid Karzai effusively thanked and praised his kind allies who have saved Afghanistan from ruin. The United States? The European Community? Well, no. Karzai's words, delivered in Iran's Majlis, or parliament, expressed gratitude for Tehran's unflagging support of "the Afghan nation's struggle against the former Soviet Union and later against terrorists." Say what? Wasn't Hamid Karzai sitting in the gallery when Bush accused Iran of being part of an "axis of evil" during his State of the Union address only a few weeks ago? Possibly Mr. Karzai missed President Bush's comment, or maybe a simple lapse of memory explains why he publicly praised Tehran's terrorist regime or why he visited the late Ayatollah Khomeini's ...
