As expected, most of the hymns on this album sound like they were written expressly for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, still one of THE most glorious choirs in the world. Among the tunes they sing are an assortment of those that are well known to everyone: "All Things Bright and Beautiful," "The Lord Is My Shepherd," "Simple Gifts," "Abide With Me; 'Tis Eventide," and the perennial "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Other tunes will be more familiar to members of the LDS faith, things, in fact, that I grew up with, like "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "I Need Thee Every Hour," and the hymn that is practically an anthem of the Mormon Church, "The Spirit of God Like a Fire Is Burning."
